Welcome to Saint-Yves school
Saint Yves School
Situated in the heart of the city of Rennes, Saint Yves offers 8 classes from Pre-School through
to Grade 5 (the final year of primary school in France) and has a student population of two hundred.
St Yves is a Catholic denominational school in which Christian values and principles are taught,
and is open to children of all religious faiths. Our dynamic teaching staff encourages and facilitates
student learning so that each student may strive to achieve his or her full potential, within a caring
environment. In its role as a part of an international, global society, St Yves offers an intensive English
program, with classes running daily for children in the Early Learning Program.
Curriculum
The teaching staff adheres to the official program guidelines, curriculum standards and frameworks,
as outlined by the French Ministry of National Education.
English at Saint Yves
In addition to the high standard of its French program, St Yves makes a commitment to the teaching
of English, the language most commonly used in international affairs. Through our interactive program,
students are encouraged to discover and explore different aspects of language and culture
in English-speaking countries. Qualified teachers who are native speakers provide daily, 20-minute
sessions in English for children in the Pre-School and Preparatory classes. These classes take
on a more formal structure throughout the Primary school, comprising two 45-minute language classes
and one 30-minute civilization class per week. In addition, Saint Yves offers international classes
at two levels for children who have spent time in an English speaking country, or who have an advanced level of English.
Religious Studies and Religious Education
Saint Yves School is a Catholic denominational school open to everyone. We invite our students to discover the teachings and values of the Christian faith, nonetheless individual student and family religious convictions will be respected. Religious Studies and Education classes are delivered by the classroom teachers.
